Army field kitchen: Canadian soldiers show how to set up a field kitchen under primitive conditions. Two men chop hole in ice for water. Others set up a crude oven while the cooks prepare the food; all in the open-air. Sequence on hands making a pie, putting it into an improvised oven. Hands open a can of tomatoes. Men are shown preparing meat for cooking, inserting meat into oven. Cut to smoke pouring out of chimney. More on preparation of food; hands slicing bread, opening another can of tomatoes and pouring same into simmering soup cauldrons. Sergeant Godlington and Lieutenant Colonel P Brosseau walk along path through snow to field kitchen. Colonel Brosseau and Major AW Wood inspect field kitchen, taste some of the food. CUs of cooked pies, of hands slicing ham. Sequence on soldiers coming in from exercise, walking in single file through snow to field kitchen, getting their rations and eating.
