Construction of birchbark canoe; MS of Cree man placing and moving narrow pieces of cedar (which will become ribs) flat on gunwales on either side of canoe end to adjust number and spacing between them. MS, he dresses one end of rib, examining it periodically from every angle. He finishes one and takes another. MCS, he wets two pieces of cedar (which will become ribs) and bends them with knee. WIDE ANGLE SHOT, he goes and places two ribs inside the canoe. CU, he places two ribs at one end of canoe.
