VARIOUS SHOTS of a Labour Day parade marching along a main thoroughfare with musicians. Two groups of men dressed in different colours are marching on both sides of the street wearing a long hose made of colourful cloth representing a snake. They stop and twirl them around vigorously in front of the very large numbers of onlookers lining the street, before moving on. Various allegorical skits are being acted out by characters in make-up or in disguise. A group of women and men with tambourines are marching to the beat of the cymbals and their own instrument. A classical music orchestra is playing a song in a park. A group of women and men in costumes are performing a folk dance. An immense crowd is watching a show, with acrobats and gymnasts, both adults and young children, performing to the sounds of a Chinese orchestra. In a park filled with people, four women are putting on a play to the sounds of a small Chinese band. On a large stage, four characters are putting on a Chinese opera for a large audience.
