FI12793.007 Papillons This is a colour interpos of whole film(mute) circa 245 feet. The film was made by Philip Stapp, an American animator and documentarian and close friend of McLaren. This film is an animated view of butterflies made to Couperin’s music of the same name. There are three variations. Variations 2 and 3 are multiplied. This film convinced McLaren that he could make a film based upon multiplied imagery that could be more than just a display of technique. I (Don McWilliams) obtained a copy to use in CREATIVE PROCESS: NORMAN MCLAREN, but it ended up on the cutting room floor, as they say. Despite the fact that Stapp’s film is lovely. Circa 245 feet.
