FI12793.029 500 FEET from a colour print idea for the middle section of BEGONE DULL CARE, before McLaren decided to do just simple etching on black. Of historical interest. The lines are bands of colour really, reminiscent of parts of both Fiddle-de-dee and Begone Dull Care. I (Don McWilliams) assume that during the painting of the film McLaren and Lambart wondered if this material could be used for a middle section. One can also assume that all this vertical line material that crops up in Norman’s film was part of a subconscious gestation process that culminated in LINES VERTICAL.
